The purpose of anti-gun legislation is mostly to prevent the spree killings such as Pulse nightclub in Orlando or Stephen Paddock in Las Vegas. The reason that these gun laws do not prevent these is simple... you can't honestly tell someone's mindset. Paddock was by all intents and purposes.. just a recluse. He had no overt political beliefs nor was he religious. There was zero indication that he was about to do this.
